The remaster looked great too, and I’m sure side-by-side there’s a big difference, but the prison of memory refuses to let me think that the remaster looks significantly better than the original, even if that’s empirically the case. It reminds of playing through the remastered original Gears of War, which at release, was far and away the best looking console game in existence.
Without Levine’s direction, I have a hard time believing it can ever live up to what’s come before.Īs for the remaster, BioShock Infinite in particular is one of those late-generation games that looked absolutely stunning at release, and given that the transition to new consoles isn’t exactly a giant leap forward in graphical capacity, I’m not sure what a remaster would actually do there. 2K now owns the BioShock license, but will have to give it to a new studio if they want to continue the franchise. Ken Levine has left the franchise and his former studio, Irrational Games, is shut down. Unlike other recent HD bundles from Gears of War and Uncharted, which have new announced games coming in the series, it’s unclear when we might see another BioShock game hit the market.
